2024, wrapped

As 2024 winds down, my body’s asked for rest, and that means no more classes for now. So it’s time for my year-ender.

2024 pole was such a ride. It started with high hopes and strong momentum, but it quickly plateaued. I questioned my short torso, my extreme passive flexibility, my build, and my hypermobility. Injuries were a constant: wrist, SI joint, shoulders, ribs, a whole smorgasbord of frustration. At times, I thought maybe this was it. Maybe my body just couldn’t progress any further.

But then something shifted. I stopped stressing about more or better and just tried to focus on the fun in each now. And then, surprise, big things started happening. Tricks that used to make me cry just last year now felt easy, light, and natural. Spinny pole, no longer a fear. It’s normal, it’s fun, and I’m loving it.

I remind myself every day: I started pole because things came easy, but I stayed because the challenge became the fun. Stay for the joy, stay for the friendships, stay for the pride in the everyday wins. This aging quadragenarian body sure has a lot to brag about. Can’t wait to see what 2025 has in store.
