Snapshots from Koyasan

Earlier this year, I spent another couple weeks in Japan. It was my fourth time going to the Kansai area (read about past trips here), and I was definitely itching to visit a new place. Yes, Nara and Kyoto is great. But after visiting the same spots three years in a row, I was ready for a new adventure. I had to go wider than my regular radius, and learned about a heritage site a few hours away. Koyasan (Mt. Koya) is revered as the holiest place in Japan. I just had to make the trek to Wakayama prefecture to see what it was all about.

I’m so happy I was able to drag Ninna, Junjie and Anton on this trip. It took us about three hours by train each way. Truthfully, there was a whole lot banking on Koya. Koya did not disappoint. I recommend a visit to anyone who has a day (or two) to spare in Japan. Here are some of my favorite shots from that trip.
